Elite (competition):

This class remains virtually unchanged. It is the most important class and only the best competitors can qualify for the European Championships and the World Cups where pre-selections are imposed.

The best Male (M) and Female (F) competitor will be declared the winner of the overall BST 2024-ranking (Best Elite competitor).

In addition, there are also age classifications.

These only count if 8 different "M" or 8 different "F" competitors have competed during the year in their respective classifications. Otherwise, the classification will automatically fall back to the previous age group.

The elite classifications are :

Cadets (U16) -> Year of birth: 2008 -> Cadets can decide to participate in Junior or Elite class. A suitable course will be offered at each race;

Junior (U18) -> Year of birth: 2006 -> Juniors can decide to participate in Elite class;

Elite (scratch);

Seniors: 28 years and older -> Year of birth: 1996;

Masters: 35 years and older -> Year of birth: 1989;

Grand Masters: 40 years and older -> Year of birth: 1984;

Kahuna: 45 years and older -> Year of birth: 1979;

Grand Kahuna: 50 years and older -> Year of birth: 1974;

Veterans: 60 years and over -> Year of birth: 1964.

Recreants:

New for 2024: 2 classes: inflatables up to 12.6 feet and 14' (inflatable and hard boards).

As last year, a BST "M" -winner and a BST "F"-winner in each section (12,6' and 14') will be declared. There will be no age classification. A suitable course will be offered at each race.

Kids:

Boys and girls aged 14 years or younger (year of birth 2010 or later).

An adapted course is offered.

In some cases, a single class board will be offered on site. Not all competitions will propose a separate kids competition. Everything will be clearly communicated in advance.

Teams:

The new feature in 2024. Whenever possible, we will offer the possibility for teams to participate: either in the form of a relay or as a "estafette". The aim is to make some races more accessible.

There will also be a final team ranking.

A team will be composed of 2, 3 or 4 persons (your choice). A team registers under a specific name. Then the team must continue to compete with the predetermined number of team members. A team of 3 and a team of 4 must always keep at least 2 permanent team members.
